Full Day Program
IHMCS features a full day kindergarten program. The child-centered, developmentally appropriate program allows children and teachers to emphasize language development, pre-literacy skills, basic math skills, and to explore topics in language.

Kindergartners have common characteristics, however, there is no “typical” child. They crave affection and warmth; react well to praise. They are imaginative, active, and eager for information. The Immaculate Heart of Mary program is designed to fit children with these characteristics, and yet allow for the fact the each child is developing at his of her own rate, and is different from every other child.

During the course of the year each Kindergartner is tested on the following skills:
•  Recognition of Upper and Lower Case Letters
•  Letter/Sound Association of the Consonants
•  Recognizing High Frequency Words
•  Sequencing Pictures
•  Name Printing: First and Last Names
•  Counting by Rote 1-100
•  Numeral Recognition 0-30
•  Number Writing 1-10
•  Verbalizing Address and Phone Number
•  Tying Shoes

Please note that the curriculum is not limited to these items. At Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, our program is structured to view where children are now in their developmental stages, not where we think they should be. Our goal is to nurture development from existing stages, in a natural and positive manner. Our intent is for each child to develop a sense of self-worth, curiosity, and eagerness for learning.
